2 ZIPs on U.S. list of 20 costliest places to buy – Orange County Register

Two Newport Beach ZIPs made the list of 20 priciest U.S. communities to buy a home, according to Realtor.com stats.

Newport Coast 92657 and Newport Beach 92661 were also among 19 Orange County communities with median listing prices above $1 million for May.

Nationwide, 401 ZIP codes had median listing prices above $1 million in May, according to Realtor.com data. Southern California had 94 of those seven-figure listings, or roughly 1-in-4 nationwide.

Newport Coast 92657 …

Median listing price: $3.7 million. That ranked 19th highest in the nation and was up 28 “percent from a year ago.

Inventory: 130 total listings, ranking 119 out of 401 million-dollar ZIPs nationwide.

Days on market: Median of 55 days — ranking 215 out of the 401 seven-figure ZIPs — vs. 242 days a year ago.

Newport Beach 92661 …

Median listing price: $3.69 million. That ranked 20th highest in the nation and was down 7 percent from a year ago.

Inventory: 47 total listings, ranking 292 out of 401 million-dollar ZIPs nationwide.

Days on market: Median of 52 days — ranking 199 out of the 401 seven-figure ZIPs — vs. 253 days a year ago.

Corona del Mar 92625 …

Median listing price: $2.6 million, 50th in the nation and flat vs. a year ago.

Inventory: 138 total listings, 110 out of 401 million-dollar ZIPs nationwide.

Days on market: Median of 52 days — 200 out of 401 seven-figure ZIPs — vs. 288 days a year ago.

Median listing price: $2.39 million. That ranked 61st in the nation and up 22 percent from a year ago.

Inventory: 149 total listings, 95 out of 401 million-dollar ZIPs nationwide.

Days on market: Median of 54 days — 207 out of the 401 — vs. 211 days a year ago.

Newport Beach 92660 …

Median listing price: $2.12 million, 81th in the nation and up 9 percent from a year ago.

Inventory: 207 total listings, 54 out of 401 million-dollar ZIPs nationwide.

Days on market: Median of 51 days — 194 out of the 401 — vs. 183 days a year ago.

U.S. high: Northern California’s Atherton 94027 was nation’s most expensive ZIP, with a May listing median of $8.07 million, down 15 percent in a year. Beverly Hills 90210 at $5.4 million, down 11 percent in a year, was second.
