Abu Dhabi Aviation Makes Deals with Leonardo, Bell in Dubai

Abu Dhabi Aviation has signed agreements with Bell Helicopter and Leonardo. During the Dubai Air Show, occurring now and ending Thursday, the operator agreed to buy two helicopters from Leonardo and became an authorized Bell customer service facility.

Leonardo sold two AW139s to Abu Dhabi Aviation to support offshore transport.

These helicopters are widely used in the UAE, the GCC and the Middle East. ADA’s AW139s benefit from the support solutions provided locally by AgustaWestland Aviation Services LLC, an Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) and Leonardo joint venture delivering thorough support and maintenance services in the region.”

AgustaWestland Aviation Services LLC was created in late 2011, reaching full operational capacity in 2013. It plans to provide specialized services to support the full range of the new generation of Leonardo aircraft. This includes selling spare parts and accessories, and performing component repairs, overhauls, customization, modification and upgrades. Already the company can spport the AW169 and AW189.

Customers in the Middle East have ordered more than 140 AW139s. More than 60 of those customers reside in the United Arab Emirates. Leonardo said more than 1,000 units for its AW139 have been ordered by 250 customers in 70 countries.

In the deal with Bell, Abu Dhabi Aviation became authorized for Bell 412s and Bell 212s.

As our operator network grows it is important we provide our customers with smart and simple service solutions to accommodate the expanding region,” said Glenn Isbell, EVP of customer support and services. “Bell Helicopter and Abu Dhabi Aviation share a rich history of 40 years accumulating more than one million flight hours on their Bell helicopter fleet.”
