Amazon’s Echo was already one of the biggest and best devices of the past year winning a host of awards in both 2016 and 2017.
Now this smart speaker has just received a major update with Amazon launching an all-new Echo.
This very latest speaker features an improved design, better sound and even the ability to link three speakers together for a multi-room experience.
The new Echo was announced at a major launch event in Seattle with the US retail giant boasting that it’s sold tens of millions of the original Echo speakers.
Now this updated device looks to add to the success with a new look that includes the option to change the skin with six different designs available including a wood veneer effect.
Choices include Charcoal Fabric, Sandstone Fabric, Heather Grey Fabric, Oak Finish, Walnut Finish and Silver Finish.
One of the issues with the original speaker was the sound quailty but Amazon says it’s addressed this with better highs and deeper bass.
The new Echo even includes Dolby sound technology.
Amazon says the new Echo combines an all-new speaker architecture, a dedicated tweeter, a 2.5” downward-firing woofer, and Dolby processing to deliver crisp vocals and dynamic bass
Another nice feature of the Echo is the ability to link a number of these speakers together and use them as a multi-room system.
You can even ask Amazon’s voice-powered Alexa assistant to play music in different rooms or have them playing together.
The Echo was never hugely expensive but Amazon clearly wants more people to own one and has now slashed its price.
This means you can pick up the all-new Echo for £89.99 – the original device cost £149.
Amazon is even offering a multi-room three pack with £50 off the total price.
“We introduced the first Echo, powered by Alexa, with a goal to fundamentally simplify and improve the way customers interact with their homes,” said Tom Taylor, Senior Vice President, Amazon Alexa.
“Today, Alexa can call people, play music in every room, turn on your lights, and even order you a pizza.
“But it’s still day one, and today we’re making Echo and Alexa even better. The all-new Echo and Echo Plus deliver better sound, all new far-field technology, and new features we think customers will love.”
It is available for pre-order starting today at www.amazon.co.uk/echo and will start shipping next month.
The all-new Amazon Echo and Echo will also be available at retailers including Argos, Dixons, John Lewis and Tesco.
