Crown Ace ready for Santa letters; new CEO for Hoag Orthopedic – Orange County Register

Crown Ace Hardware has launched its sixth annual Letters to Santa program. Store employees have built in-store mailboxes dubbed the “North Pole Express” and promise to submit letters to Santa before Dec. 10. Senders will get a special response “direct from the North Pole,” Crown Ace said in a statement.

The Huntington Beach chain, founded in 1949, has 16 stores in Southern California and Arizona.

New CEO

Jennifer Mitzner is the new chief executive of Hoag Orthopedic Institute. She succeeds Dr. Carlos Prietto, who was the acting CEO. Mitzner was most recently senior vice president and chief financial officer of St. Joseph Hoag Health. She also has served as senior VP for corporate services and CFO at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. The institute includes a specialty hospital in Irvine and two surgery centers: Orthopedic Surgery Center of Orange County in Newport Beach and Main Street Specialty Surgery Center in Orange.

On the move

Dr. John Burlison is the new dean of professional studies at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa. Burlison previously was at the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) where he served as the director of the center of professional leadership studies. His role at Vanguard will include expanding the school’s online education programs, certificate programs and non-traditional community enrichment opportunities for student recruitment.

Also at Vanguard, Laura L. Capo is the new director of alumni engagement at the Costa Mesa campus. She comes to Vanguard from USC, where she spent more than 24 years,…
