First-time, experienced climbers flock to festival | People

Cody’s Ice Climbing Festival brought out a mixture of die-hard ice climbers and beginners to the sport.

The festival took place Feb. 9-12. Climbers travelled from Oregon, varying parts of Wyoming and Montana and even Canada to attend the festival.

With an objective of revival, the festival was taken over this year by Ari Novak. Novak has been the creative director for the Bozeman Ice Fest as well as a professional climber for Trango (an ice and rock climbing equipment company).

Though the warm weather of late did impede conditions for maximizing ice time, there was still a multitude of clinics, speakers and entertainment for the weekend long festival.
