Five things to know about Bargain Hunt – News – Shelby Star

Signs are in place and final preparations are underway ahead of Bargain Hunt’s second North Carolina location in Shelby.

The Shelby store will offer more than 20,000 square feet of sales space, housing an assortment of name-brand apparel, bed and bath accessories, electronics, home furnishings, furniture, toys, baby supplies, large and small kitchen appliances and more.

Located at 1750 E Dixon Blvd., Bargain Hunt occupies the the former Mighty Dollar space. The store is the second addition to the Shelby Marketplace shopping center, which added a Hobby Lobby in 2016.

Here are five things to know about the new store:

1. Grand opening

Bargain Hunt will kick off its grand opening weekend at 10 a.m. Friday and close out the weekend at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The first 100 customers in the store on both Friday and Saturday will receive a Bargain Hunt reusable shopping bag and 10 percent off coupons to be used on one regular-priced item. The coupon is only valid on the day it is given.

Customers will also be able to enter a drawing to win a $100 Visa gift card. The winner will be chosen at the end of the weekend.

2. An aim at low prices

Bargain Hunt offers name-brand merchandise at 30 to 60 percent below normal retail pricing, with a constantly changing product selection. The store will also feature the brand’s “Best Bargains Discount Program,” aimed at lowering the price on certain products.

The cost of some items will be based on the date shown on the price tag. After one month from the date on the tag, the marked price discounts 10 percent. The price will then drop an additional 10 percent every markdown day (the first, tenth or twentieth of each month) until it reaches 90 percent off.

“We know that customers are interested in value-driven retailers,” said Don Gozzard, vice president of retail operations. “We feel as long as we provide service and a great value, we’ll continue to grow.”

3. Shelby was the right fit

It was a combination of factors that attracted officials with Bargain Hunt to make Shelby the store’s second North Carolina location.

“It checked all the boxes from a site selection standpoint,” Peter Adams, vice president of real estate at Bargain Hunt said. “It has great visibility, a dense population and was the perfect size for a Bargain Hunt store.”
