TACOMA, Wash. – Matt McBride homered and doubled, driving home three runs as the Nashville Sounds (56-61) topped the Tacoma Rainiers (58-60) 7-4 on Thursday.
Jaff Decker singled three times for Nashville.
Nashville started the scoring in the second inning when McBride hit a two-run home run and Decker hit an RBI single.
Trailing 6-2, the Rainiers cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Gordon Beckham hit a two-run double.
The Sounds tacked on another run in the seventh when Melvin Mercedes hit an RBI single, driving in Chris Carter.
Nashville right-hander Ben Bracewell (2-2) picked up the win after allowing two runs on two hits over five innings. Opposing starter Max Povse (1-1) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after giving up three runs and five hits over two innings. Raul Alcantara retired the side in order for his second save of the season.
Frisco 3, Arkansas (AA) 1
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Collin Wiles allowed just four hits over seven innings, leading the Frisco RoughRiders (51-66) over the Arkansas Travelers (52-65) in a 3-1 win on Thursday.
Wiles (9-9) picked up the win after he struck out eight and walked one while allowing one run.
Frisco got on the board first in the third inning when Royce Bolinger hit an RBI triple and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Isiah Kiner-Falefa.
Arkansas answered in the bottom of the frame when Braden Bishop hit an RBI single, scoring Willie Argo to get within one.
The RoughRiders tacked on another run in the ninth when Jose Cardona hit an RBI single, driving in Andy Ibanez.
Chase De Jong (0-1) went eight innings, allowing two runs and seven hits while striking out three to take the hard-luck loss in the Texas League game. Reed Garrett retired the side in order for his seventh save of the season.
Modesto (High-A) 11, Rancho Cucamonga 0
MODESTO, Calif. – Jordan Cowan had two hits and scored three runs, and Reggie McClain allowed just six hits over seven innings as the Modesto Nuts (62-55) defeated the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (65-42) 11-0 on Thursday.
McClain (10-8) picked up the win after he struck out four.
Modesto had a pair of big innings in the blowout victory, scoring four runs in both the second and seventh innings.
