Pearl Marie Jones, 57, lifetime Potlatch resident, passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017, at the Hospice of North Idaho Schneidmiller House in Coeur d’Alene. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Community Church in Potlatch, with the Rev. Larry Veith officiating. Burial will follow at the Freeze Cemetery. Friends may call and pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse.

Pearl was born July 23, 1959, at Gritman Hospital in Moscow, to Garry N. and Beverly B. (Espy) Jones. She was raised on the family farm in Potlatch and attended all of her schooling there, graduating from Potlatch High School in 1978. She attended the University of Idaho after high school and then began her 25-year career working at the UI Law Library. To stay busy, she also worked for Kmart and Walmart. She loved to work and enjoyed the friendships she made at all of her jobs.

Coming from an avid horse-loving family, Pearl tried riding horses along with the rest of them and was named royalty for the Silver Spurs Saddle Club. It didn’t take long for her to tell her mom and dad that horses weren’t quite her cup of tea. She was a prolific writer and had many published poems. She loved to cook and always made enough food to feed an army. She very much enjoyed going out to dinners with friends and family and would almost break your arm if you tried paying the bill. She also loved attending basketball games and adopted many of the students in her heart.

Pearl loved everyone and would give the clothes off of her back and her last dollar if it meant she could help someone else. She was a loving daughter, sister and friend and was dearly beloved by many people in the community. The word “can’t” did not exist in her vocabulary.

Pearl is survived by parents Garry N. and Beverly B. Jones of Potlatch; sisters Connie Jones of Payette and Sondra (Kevin) Harvill of Potlatch; brothers Garry Dean (Heather) Jones of Selah, Wash., Mick Espy of Las Vegas and Lynn Espy of Twin Falls. She also is survived by nieces Chelsie Fugate, Kaylee (Colton) Purdum, Heidi Eimers and Emilee Jones; nephews Jake Eimers and Cody Fugate; great-nephews Zane Purdam and Craig Fugate; and great-niece Addyson Purdum.

Memorial contributions in Pearl’s honor are suggested to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 63,…
