After a summer-long contest to crown the best mocktail at the shore, the John R. Elliott HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers proudly announced the winners of the HEROtini Mocktail Challenge at the Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club.
Thirty-one local bars and restaurants took on the challenge of competing in three categories: Best HEROtini Mocktail, Top HEROtini Bartender, and Top HERO Establishment in order to promote the critical role of Designated Drivers.
After collecting more than 350,000 votes since Memorial Day, the winner for Best Mocktail Drink was awarded to Tomatoes Restaurant with their No-Jito. The Plum Crazy at Olon Restaurant took second place while the Climate Changer at The Doc’s Palace finished third.
The race for Best Bartender was a close one, but Kathy Ryan of The Windjammer Café-Bar-Grille took the honor. Stephen Olita at A Touch of Italy Restaurant took second and Ryan Jones of Bocca Coal Fired Bistro took third.
In the elusive Best Establishment category, Tomatoes in Margate once again took home the top prize. The Windjammer finished in second place while the Bocca Coal Fired Bistro came in third.
“One of the most popular parts of the campaign was seeing the creativity that not only went into each Mocktini but the creativity that went into the names”, explained William Elliot, CEO and Founder of the HERO Campaign.
The best name was awarded to Bar One for their “The Berry Sobertini.” Second place was awarded to the Vagabond’s “Mint to Get You Home” and third place was awarded to Sofia Restaurant’s “Cherry Lifesaver.”
Finally, the People’s Choice Award for most combined votes was awarded to Sofia Restaurant.
